Beliefs
Bible
We believe in the plenary verbal inspiration of the 66 books of the Bible through the Masoretic Text of the Old Testament and the Received Text of the New Testament. We believe God preserved His Word for English-speaking people through the King James Version.
2 Tim. 3:16-17
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Pet. 1:20-21
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
God the Father
We believe that God is one God, but that He exists in three persons–the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. God the Father orchestrated the plan of redemption from the foundation of the world and gave His Son, Jesus Christ, for the sins of the world. We are to seek to glorify Him with our lives.
1 John 5:7
7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Rev. 4:11
11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God the Son
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men. He died on the cross, was buried, and rose again for the sin of all mankind.
Luke 1:35
35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
John 1:1-2
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
1 Cor. 15:3-4
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
God the Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the person Who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. We believe He is a person, not simply a force, who can be grieved, quenched, and has many other personal attributes given in the Scriptures.
John 16:8-11
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
Eph. 4:30
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Man
We believe that by nature and choice, man has become alienated from a holy God. Man is without good and utterly unable to save himself by any good works from eternal separation from God in a place called Hell.
Rom. 3:22-23
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Rom. 5:12
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to every man by grace and received by repentance of sin and a personal, willful faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, apart from works, Whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. We reject the man-made systems of Calvinism and Arminianism.
Eph. 1:7
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Eph. 2:8-10
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Church
We believe that the local church, which is the body and part of the espoused bride of Christ, is solely made up of born-again persons, Scripturally baptized by immersion. We believe there are only two Scriptural ordinances for the NT local church: Baptism and the Lord’s Table. These are symbolic, not sacramental or for salvation.
1 Cor. 12:12-14
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
Matt. 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Rom. 6:4-6
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Music
We believe that God has given clear Biblical principles regarding music that is to edify the believer, glorify God, and point the listener to the Scriptures. The Word of God teaches that music should be separate from the world in how it sounds, and the words it uses.
Col. 3:16
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
